Some people celebrate Easter as if it had something to do with the resurrection of Jesus Christ, even though they know perfectly well, that Easter is just a continuation of an ancient fertility rite. Well, we don't! We don't use make believe rabbits, or eggs that supposedly came from rabbits. Did you know that the custom of coloring eggs came from the fact that the ancients used to dip the eggs in blood! And, no, we don't celebrate any of the other pagan nonsense that goes with Easter.
We do celebrate the resurrection of our Passover lamb,- the Lord Jesus Christ. The Apostle Paul wrote, " Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us. "
1 Corinthians 5:7Some Christians celebrate Passover, and we have no problem with that. Christ observed Passover at what we often call the Last Supper, and seemed to indicate that as often as we did the same, we should do it in remembrance of Him. The early church celebrated Passover, at least thru most of the first century. There are some Christians who only take communion on Passover. I'm not ready to endorse that view, since our family takes communion together daily. But, I understand where they are coming from.
I find it repulsive that professing Christians can turn the resurrection of our Lord into a pagan fertility festival. SHAME. SHAME. SHAME. This is one more reason, why the Christian Church in America, desperately needs to repent, before it is too late.
