" And you shall be careful to observe all the statutes and judgements which I set before you today. "
( Deuteronomy 11:32 )" Then the Lord will scatter you among the peoples, from one end of the earth to the other, and there you shall serve other gods, which neither you nor your fathers have known--wood and stone. And among those nations you shall find no rest, nor shall the sole of your foot have a resting place, but there the Lord will give you a trembling heart, failing eyes, and anguish of soul. "
( Deuteronomy 28:64-65 )It is frightening that people can so quickly forget significant events in their past, and even question whether these events occured. I suspect that this has something to do with the ineffectiveness of our government educational system, and the insidious false teachers around us. It is understandable that we would desire to forget the unpleasant and deplorable in our past. It is not so understandable that we would quickly forget our blessings as well.
There are a number of web sites on the internet devoted to helping us remember the holocaust. I'm not sure that these are the best, but they will certainly help us to remember things that we shouldn't forget. The most valuable reason for studying history is so that we will not repeat the mistakes, especially the horrible mistakes of our past. Two sites that I consider worth visiting are Holocaust Survivors and Holocaust Forgotten.
These two sites are not for the faint of heart, or for the very young. Judging from the number of violent crimes, and expressions of hate, by today's youth, they are appropriate for teens, and for mature pre-teens. The Bible tells us that we must teach our children about God. That includes teaching about the horrors of God's judgement. It is important to teach the truth about the God of Israel, not to falsely teach that God loves us ( which He certainly does ) and so He will only give us a slap on the wrist for our sins. The true God judges sin harshly, and to teach anything else is false
teaching. Yes, He does forgive those who truly repent, from a clean heart. It is not our place to judge the Jews for their sins. We have plenty of our own to consider. There were approximately 11 million people slaughtered in the holocaust. How can anyone be so evil as to say that the holocaust never happened? Of these, over half were Jewish. The remainder were mostly christians, including both catholics and protestants. Servants of Satan, like Adolph Hitler, hate all people. They select specific groups for extermination, when it suits their purpose.
The holocaust is not the only example of man's inhumanity to man in our past. It is likely that more than 11 million have been killed by the murderers in the former Soviet Union, and in modern day China. There have been millions slaughtered in other genocides as well. When will it end?
The best place to learn about man's inhumanity to man, man's irreverence toward God, and God's judgements, is the Holy Bible. Lest you be pumped up with pride and say, " I'm not like that. " remember that " All have sinned. " God does judge sin and rebellion. He does so very harshly. If your concept of God is otherwise, you have created your own God in your heart.
God does not take pleasure in executing judgement. He didn't take pleasure in the flood. He didn't take pleasure in allowing the holocaust, or other genocides. He would much prefer to bless us. He loves you, and wants to bless you. He doesn't want you to die, and go to hell, and suffer eternal torment. He sent His only Son, Yeshua Messiah, to die for you, so that you could enjoy the blessings of the New Covenant, and be forgiven of your sins.
Read about it in Jeremiah 31:31-33. The God of Israel would like to give you a new heart, to give you forgiveness, and to give you eternal life in heaven with Him. Cast away all the lies, and false teaching, that you have received. Repent! Ask God for your new heart today!
