First, Count The Cost!

" The world ... hates Me because I testify of it that its works are evil. "
( John 7:7 )

" ...Which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost... "
( Luke 14:28 )

It is recorded in Luke chapter 10 that Jesus told a story about a man that Bible readers call the " Good Samaritan ".   Although neither Jesus, nor his disciples called this a parable, most Bibles, in their notes or headings, call this a parable.   I am pointing this out, because this story may be a record of something that really happened.

Every once in a while, we hear that someone trying to be a good samaritan, set off a chain of events, which cost the good intentioned person their health, their careers, a large amount of money, years in jail, or even their lives.   We would like to believe that good will come from doing good, but that is not always the case.

Peter and John said, " We ought to obey God rather than men. "
( Acts 5:29 )   You may have heard that verse before in your church and said, " amen ", or nodded your head.   I am telling you now to be careful.   Before you play the Good Samaritan, in our post-christian America, first count the cost.   Are you ready to be falsely accused?   Are you ready to be considered, " in need of counseling "?   Are you willing to be fined, or put in jail?   Are you willing to lose your reputation,- and your career?   Are you willing to have your friends turn their backs on you?   I hope that your faith is such that you can say " Yes! ".   But, I can tell you that it isn't going to be fun.

Whether things will be any better under the incoming administration, remains to be seen.   I pray that America will repent, and return to her christian heritage.
