" Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the command to restore and build Jerusalem, Until Messiah the Prince, There shall be seven sevens and sixty-two sevens ( " Sevens " is sometimes incorrectly translated " weeks " - the words are the same in the original language ); The street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublesome times. "
" And after the sixty-two sevens, Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself;... "
Daniel 9:25-26( That command to restore and rebuild Jerusalem was given in approximately 450 BC. Sixty-nine " sevens " or 483 years, would place the date for the Messiah to be " cut off " at approximately 33 AD. )
" Behold, a virgin whall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel, which is translated ' God with us. '"
Matthew 1:23 - a quote of Isaiah 7:14 ( written by Isaiah before 700 BC )" But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are little among the thousands of Judah, out of you shall come forth to Me the One to be ruler in Israel, whose goings forth have been from old, from everlasting. "
Micah 5:2 ( written about 700 BC )Yes, Jesus Christ was a lot more than a cute little baby, born from a holy woman, a little less than 2000 years ago. He was foretold as early as 4000 years before, where He is described as the woman's ( Eve's ) Seed in Genesis 3:15. His birth fulfilled more than a dozen prophesies concerning the Jewish Messiah. It has been almost 2000 years,since Jesus walked on earth, and yet no other person has even come close to fulfilling the prophesies concerning the Messiah.
Jesus Christ was indeed, the promised Messiah. He was the Spirit of Almighty God, dwelling in a human body. That is why we call Him Immanuel,- God with us. There was no Passover Plot. The only plot involved, is the plot to picture Him as something other than the promised Messiah.
From its very beginning, the holiday, which we call Christmas, has been pagan. It was instituted as a compromise between christians and the pagans around them. The date chosen, December 25, was the date of a pagan festival, not the anniversary of the birth of Jesus. Many, if not most, of the traditions surrounding Christmas are pagan in origin,- the Christmas lights, the Christmas trees, Santa Claus and his predecessor, Saint Nicholas ( who, by the way, was a very nice man ), the giving of gifts, etc.
Yet, there are some very positive aspects of Christmas. Most people, even in America, only hear the truth about Jesus Christ during Christmas time. The old fashioned Christmas carols are the only truthful information about Jesus that many ever hear. Many, only give unselfishly to others, around Christmas time. There is increased attention given to the poor and the homeless at Christmas time. Many make time for God in their thoughts and prayers only around Christmas. And perhaps the most important plus,- is that without Christmas, most people would never have the joy that comes with loving God and loving one another.
Those who have chosen to believe and teach the lie ( evolution ) can only look upon Jesus as a good man, and therefore can never fully experience the joy that comes with an understanding of the true identity of Jesus. May God have mercy, and grant repentance, to those evil teachers and school authorities, who would expose school children to pagan celebrations, and yet deny them the joy of the Christmas celebrations and singing Christmas carols.
For those of us, who are christians, Christmas is a special opportunity to reach out to those around us. One of my deepest regrets is that I don't have more financial resources to share with those less fortunate. I trust that you feel the same.
