The above is a photograph of a small 31" creature found on the shore of Lake Erie and mounted by taxidermist Pete Peterson. It is currently at the Creation Evidences Museum in Glen Rose, Texas.
Among evolutionary scientists it was, and perhaps in some quarters still is, customary to talk of " missing links ". Until 1938, these scientists knew exactly what the missing link was between fish and reptiles. It was the coelecanth. It was a lobed fin fish,- or so we were told.
Then in 1938 this nice little charade was spoiled by a fisherman who pulled up a dead coelecanth of the southeastern coast of Africa. It was about 20 years before the phonies began to admit that the coelecanth was not a 70 million year old creature, but was, in fact, a creature still very much alive, and prospering, in the waters near Madagascar and the Comoro Islands. To date there have been about 200 of these strange looking fish caught by fishermen, and some have been very much alive. Obviously, the coelecanth is not the hoped for missing link!
An honest scientist keeps an open mind and does not get boxed into a particular theory. An honest scientist knows that scientific knowledge is often a very temporary phenomenon. It is unfortunate that the field of science has become so polluted by these " locked in the box " thinkers, who don't accept anything that is contrary to their preconceived beliefs, even when confronted with overwhelming evidence to the contrary.
For years these so called scientists have deceived their students into believing in the Piltdown Man, the Java Man, the Peking Man, Nebraska Man, Lucy, and a horde of other frauds,- and some of them are continuing to teach their gullible students from textbooks, that still teach these frauds as legitimate ancestors in the human family tree.
They have allowed themselves to be deceived by filed teeth and stained fossils, bones taken from remote locations and then assembled as a single fossil, yet when confronted by the testimony of tens of thousands of witnesses, as is the case of the famous Nessie ( the Loch Ness Monster ) or thousands of witnesses as is the case of Champ ( the Lake Champlain Monster ) and Ogopogo, they scoff and still insist that they couldn't possibly exist because they died out millions of years ago. So much for the millions of years nonsense.
Yes, it appears that there isn't just one type of great sea creature, still in existence, in fresh water, and salt water locations, but many. To admit this fact, the vast majority of modern scientists would have to admit that they know very little about which they claim to know a lot. How many young students would sign up for a course in evolutionary biology if they knew the whole idea was an absolute fraud? Let God be true and every man a liar!
Having studied these great creatures for a number of years, and having seen one myself in Lake Champlain ( the Vermont side ) in 1996, I can tell you the following:
1. The creatures usually avoid noise and any kind of boat traffic. They are rarely seen during bad weather, or choppy lake surface conditions.
2. They rarely come to the water surface except to feed. They do not appear to need to breathe air.
3. Their bodies are quite dense. They surface only by exerting a substantial amount of energy, flapping flippers, fins, or tails. Since they are so dense, dead specimens do not float like the typical fish.
4. The creatures follow a feeding pattern similar to predator fish. They commonly feed early in the morning, or just before dark, and during the time frame around the new moon,- two or three days before,- to two or three days after. That is the best time to spot them.
5. The fact that these creatures spend 99% of their time under water, and in rather deep water, makes them very hard to see or photograph. There are a number of photographs in existence, but, think about this: Would you stand by your camera if there was a 30 to 50 ft. long creature coming toward you and only a few yards of your location? I know the feeling. When I saw one of the Champ creatures in 1996, I could see its form under water coming toward me. If it hadn't turned away about 50 ft. from the rock where I was sitting on the shore, I would have fled as fast as my aged old legs could carry me!
6. There appears to be a number of varieties of these water creatures. In all probability, babies, young adults, females, and males have quite different features. This would be similar to most other creatures in the animal kingdom. It is also quite possible that a number of different species exist, even in reasonably close proximity to each other.
7. Most of the fossils of the larger dinosaur/marine reptiles were probably from creatures that spent most of their time, in or under, water. Their body mass was so large that their muscles and skeletal structure would have a very difficult time providing locomotion or support on land.
8. The fossil record is not one of producing more species. It is just the opposite. It is not a record of life. It is a record of death. It is a record of extinction. The remaining sea creatures are remnants of a much greater variety of creatures.
