Should We Be At War In Iraq?

" Where do wars and fights come from among you...? "
James 4:1

" Now as for you ( for Abram ) you shall go to your fathers in peace... "

" But in the fourth generation they shall return here, for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet complete. "
Genesis 15:15,16

" Do not think in your heart, after the Lord your God has cast them ( the Amorites and others ) out before you, saying, ' Because of my righteousness the Lord has brought me in to possess this land';   but it is because of the wickedness of these nations that the Lord is driving them out from before you. "

" It is not because of your righteousness or the uprightness of your heart that you go in to possess their land, but because of the wickedness of these nations that the Lord your God drives them out from before you, and that He may fulfill the word which the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. "
Deuteronomy 9:4,5

Anti-war demonstrations have been around, at least since the early days of World War II,- perhaps even longer, but that's before my time.   In the days before our entry into World War II against Hitler, anti-war demonstrators filled the streets, carrying all kinds of signs opposing our entry into the European campaign.   Curiously enough, when Hitler attacked Russia, these same demonstrators immediately adopted a pro-war stance.

Since that time, every time America has stepped forward to oppose an aggressor, or communist, or a facist, or terrorist, or other evil regime, anti-war demonstrators have filled the streets.   This has usually caused a delay in taking the action needed to stop the brutality, and/or aggression.   Either these people are uneducated in historical matters, or they have simply allowed themselves to be brainwashed by ignorant, or irresponsible teachers.   It should be obvious to any intellegent person today, that failure to deal with an evil ruler, or evil regime, quickly, leads to a much higher cost in lives, injuries, and money.   President George W. Bush ( who wasn't my favorite presidential candidate ) apparently is the first president in recent history to have this kind of intellegence.   He isn't perfect, but we are truly blessed to have this man in the White House during these difficult times.

What does God think of the war in Iraq?   It is likely that He thinks of this war in Iraq in the same way that He thought about the war in about 1405 BC when, at His command, Joshua led the children of Israel, into a land which included present day Israel, and made war on the Amorites and other tribes that lived there.   So yes, there are times when God not only permits war,- but commands it!

America, and present day Israel, are probably no more righteous than the children of Israel which Moses led out of Egypt and brought near to the " promised land ".   Perhaps we are even less righteous.   We give God lip service and pray to Him when we are desperate, or when we want something to go our way, but that's about it.

America was founded upon christian principles and honored its Creator.   Talk of Allah, or other gods, or other religions was virtually non-existent.   Until perhaps 50 years ago, we had a legal system based upon God's commandments, and when the word " God " was mentioned, most Americans knew that it was the God who made us all, the Creator of the universe, who was being discussed.   Today, however, that has all changed.   Today, God is a name that is used more in vain, than in reverence.   Sad to say, America today is much like Israel at the end of the period of the Judges.
( see Judges 21:25 )   It says that " everyone did what was right in his own eyes. "

All one has to do is listen to the anti-war protestors, and some of the politicians, and the anti-American, American media, to hear people doing it again,- spouting off what they think is right in their own eyes, rather than speaking in agreement with God's commandments.   Does that mean that America is evil, " the great Satan "?   No!   There are still many in America, who abhor its decline into the sins of, pornography, homosexuality, vulgarity, murder of infants ( they call it abortion ), adultery, fornication, unrestrained pursuit of riches, etc.   America has a president who may not always be politically correct, but believes in God, and respects His commandments.

Now, what of Iraq, and Saddam Hussein?   Was Iraq founded upon christian principles and God's laws?   Certainly not.   Iraq is ruled by a cruel dictator who has authorized the murder and torture of thousands of people, including christians and jews.   Without the slightest remorse, he has used chemical warfare against his own citizens, has an official department of torture and rape, and has had his followers kill any of his people who attempted to flee to obtain food and water.   His henchmen have used the cruelest forms of torture and abuse,- the cutting out of tongues, the abuse of genitals, even the grinding of people into something like hamburger.

Does Saddam worship God?   Again, certainly not.   He worships a god that he calls Allah, changing the facts concerning God's covenant with Abraham and Isaac, to God making his covenant with Ishmael rather than Isaac.   For perhaps 2,000 years, the transferring of the covenant from Abraham to Isaac was unquestioned.   The Bible, very clearly indicates in Genesis chapter 17, that the covenant went from Abraham to Isaac.   Only in Mohammed's warped mind, and anti-christian, anti Jewish rebellion, has this new version of god come into being.   The hatred that Muslims have for Christians and Jews has been a matter of history for over 1300 years, and is clearly indicated in the Quran.   No, Allah and God are not the same, and our God is not Allah.   Our God is the God of love.   We are told by the apostle John that God is Love!   The word " love " occurs in the Bible over 600 times.   In Mohammed's Quran, the word " love " isn't even mentioned.

On the surface, it appears that we are justified in going to war with Iraq.   It is unfortunate that so many protesters, politicians, and the American media are choosing to secretly back the greater evil, Saddam Hussein.   Watching the news on TV, with its constant barrage of anti-American propaganda, much of it straight from the terrorist sympathizing TV station, Al Jazeera, is nauseating.   They will soon have their reward.   They will soon experience the penalty for supporting evil.

It is unfortunate that we waited so long in doing what had to be done to give the Iraqi's relief from their horrible repression.   Giving the United Nations time for their foolish debate has already cost our troops much hardship.   Had the attack began a month earlier, there would have been fewer sand storms, and there would be less exposure to the oppressive heat.   In addition, Saddam's forces would have had less time to prepare.   The United Nations is nothing more than a tool of the anti-christ.   We should get out of the United Nations, and get the United Nations, with its nest of spies and phony diplomats, out of the United States.

What now?   If America depends upon military might alone, it may suffer a great defeat.   If America repents of all its evil, and turns to God, it will certainly succeed in its mission.   As descendants of Israel, the promise of II Chronicles 7:14 is ours, but it is a promise with an " if "!   " If my people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. "

Let's remember to spend time with God each day, and pray for our president and the rest of our leaders, their families, and our servicemen, and their families.
